April 2016 Newsletter

Since our last newsletter in March we have completed another 5 Taste of the Outback tours which include stunning flights over Lake Eyre. We have another 7 scheduled trips and plan to add 3 or 4 more dates to the calendar very soon. Many future trips are already full so keep your eye on the calendar and book as soon as you can.  The water is still flowing in the Warburton Grove and Belt Bay and the southern end is still quite deep. The contrast of water and salt areas makes it spectacular and Pelicans are often sighted as they move around. The Lake Eyre Yacht club always has the latest status.

Upcoming tour dates still with availability are May 14th, May 28th and June 18th. See website details for other tours

“WOW – what a wonderful and amazing adventure! Australia is such a magnificent country and what a privilege it was to experience ” A 4 Day Taste of the Outback ” with Kirkhope Air.”

Every 2 years the Tyabb Airshow is run and March this year was another outstanding day. Great weather, lots of flying displays and a show that you can get up close and personal. Nick and Tony flew our Chieftain to Tyabb and it was on display. It attracted a huge following and the queue to look  inside was longer than the nearby coffee queue. Next time we will take 2 aircraft to allow more access.

Once again our Bespoke (design your own) tours continue to be popular. Since our last newsletter we have completed two more of these trips. One was a modified/lengthened Taste of the Outback tour for a group of 6 ladies and another was to Ayers Rock and Alice Springs in our King Air. Timing was good as they were able to see the new “Field of Light” display at Uluru.

Testimonials on the website speak of their success….

“We saw outback Australia from the air at low altitude, the reds, oranges and vivid greens creating a kaleidoscope of colour. We crunched on the salts of Lake Eyre, experienced the Breakaways at sunset with a glass of wine, were guided through the history, heritage and beauty of Lake Mungo, were awed by the back velvet of the night sky and the Milky Way at Birdsville – amongst just a few things. I have travelled extensively through Australia but this trip would rate as one of the very best I have done. I could go again tomorrow!”

We are ready and waiting to help you design your own tour,

Come and enjoy great interesting food at the Prairie Hotel in Parachilna. They mark what is on the plate.

UberAir is a CASA licensed drone operator specialising in remote and very remote locations of the outback. Two examples below of recent videos are locations on our Taste of the Outback tours. One is Arkaroola in the Flinders Ranges and the other is on Lake Eyre.

If you are a Facebook fan you will have seen Keith on Lord Howe Island. He has just returned with our King Air after another great tour to this magic Island, culminating with a number of tours by local naturalist Ian Hatton. Please email us if you are interested in this tour, as more Lord Howe dates will be listed later in the year.

The success of our tours relies on a team effort from all at KA involved in planning, logistics, maintenance and of course piloting. The tours involve long hours for our pilots but we always get great feedback as they try very hard to make your trip go well. Some feedback examples below:

“A huge thank you to Hans, our very experienced and careful pilot.. We felt comfortable and relaxed throughout the trip with the aircraft in your capable hands”

“Thank you all for the recent fantastic Lake Eyre trip – especially for making it go at such short notice – and for Tony Wood’s professionalism both as pilot and guide, and his patience and skill when the schedule needed to be revised “on the fly”

“Very smooth and enjoyable flight. Punctual too which was important. Enjoyed the pilot Tony S’s company. Thanks again” (sorry no picture)

  • Three of our pilots are called Tony….Tony W, Tony K, Tony S…don’t get confused!
  • Check our prices/schedule on the website for more tours and dates.
  • Maddie keeps working on our website to make it better. This is an ongoing task. We welcome feedback from you.

Our Rotary Information Nights are proving successful. We had 30 at the last one in April and all had a great time. Email us if you want to attend any of these information evenings (with drinks & nibbles).
