Kirkhope Aviation is offering a joy flight at the annual KingSton fete , Moorabbin Airport. The pilot, who has been in business for 40 years, will take the winners up in a Piper twin engine plane from Moorabbin airport.

Kirkhope Aviation has called the airport home for about 15 years, after moving from Essendon.

The pilot and businessman said he is keen to let people know the airport is “not just a training ground for light aircraft flyers.”

“The aiport is an asset to the south eastern region of Melbourne and there are a few of us in there who offer charters,” he said.

Mr Kirkhope and eight pilots and seven casual pilots also fly outback tours out of Moorabbin. In the last two years they have also been building up their corporate charter business.

“We can take business executive to other cities, or the celebrity who doesn’t want to travel from big public airports,” he said.

“Moorabbin could really become a hub for this.”

The fete will be on at 288 Centre on Dandenong Rd, Saturday from 10am-2pm.
