HOW TO GET TO KANGAROO ISLAND

There are many ways to get to Kangaroo Island.

Where is Kangaroo Island?

Kangaroo Island is Australia’s third-largest island, after Tasmania and Melville Island. It lies in the state of South Australia 112 km (70 mi) south-west of Adelaide. Its closest point to the mainland is Snapper Point in Backstair Passage which is 13.5 km (8.4 mi) from the Fleurieu Peninsula.

This is a special flight to Kangaroo Island with our tour designed to get the most out of your visit to Kangaroo Island. It will allow you to explore this island with local tour operators. Your adventure starts the moment the flight is boarded at Moorabbin around 8:30 am. You will fly via Naracoorte for refueling and then over the Coorong and the Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo Island at around 11:30 am.  You will surely enjoy every moment of this 2-4 hour flight to Kangaroo Island.. (depending on which aircraft). Then for the next 2.5 days you will see  Sea Lions, visit Remarkable Rocks, Admiralty Arch and so much more. You will stay 2 nights at the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat. In the early afternoon on the third day you’ll travel to Kingscote Airport on your way back home.

VISIT TO KANGAROO ISLAND AND FLINDERS RANGES

Kangaroo Island, and the Flinders Ranges 4 Days Holiday

Kirkhope Aviation’s flights to Flinders Ranges take off as usual from Moorabbin around 8:30 am and via Naracoorte for refuelling then over the Coorong and the Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo Island. This is, in fact, an extended tour plan to Kangaroo Island Express with one night stay in the Flinders Ranges.

Staying at the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Resort for 2 nights you will enjoy the wilderness of Kangaroo Island and on third day at around 2 pm you will take a short 20 min flight to Goolwa for fuel and then a 1 hour 45min flight to Parachilna, the landing point of central Flinders Ranges.  Here you will reside at the Prairie Hotel where you will watch the brilliant sun set and the changing colour of the Flinders Ranges. Your adventure of the central Flinders Ranges will start on the following morning. On the way home, you will have the opportunity to view Wilpena Pound from the air as you fly over on the way to Mildura for fuel.

VISIT TO KANGAROO ISLAND AND GETTING TO GAWLER RANGES

Kangaroo Island and Gawler Ranges 5 Day Holiday

 

Kirkhope Aviation’s Flights to Gawler Ranges starts at Moorabbin around 8:30 am. you will fly via Naracoorte for refueling and then over the Coorong and the Backstairs Passage to Kangaroo Island. You will spend 2 full days here in  the  wilderness… a haven for animals including Sea Lions, Kangaroos and Koalas.  A 90 min flight will take you to Streaky Bay  via Venus Bay enjoying the magnificent coastal scenery. Here a local guide from Gawler Ranges Safaris will take you to the “MI Investigator” to swim with sea lions and dolphins, an unforgettable wilderness experience, before continuing inland to Wudinna and  then north into the Gawler Ranges. Accommodation for the next two nights is in the stunning Kangaluna Bush Camp with luxury tented cabins on platforms with ensuites…  or for the lucky couple the chance to sleep in the latest “swagon”. The meals and location are superb.

On day 4 after breakfast you will spend a full day seeing Lake Gairdner with its glistening white salt pan set in the middle of a red landscape. Here you will see many Emus and Kangaroos amongst other wildlife.  And on day 5 you will visit Lake Sturt and the large granite outcrop of Corrobinnie Hill.  And at around 1pm our adventure in Gawler Ranges will come to an end. Yet excitement will not finish. You can still enjoy an aerial view of the picturesque Gawler Ranges while flying back to Moorabbin.
