Tour Itinerary: Murray River Air Cruise

B,L,D: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 1: Depart to Corryong (L,D)

Your Murray River Air Cruise begins at 8.00am, with a flight to Corryong in the Snowy Mountains of NSW. The Murray River begins its epic journey in Kosciuszko National Park, just outside of Khancoban. Take in the spectacular scenery, learn about the history of the area and the Snowy Hydro Scheme.An intimate dining experience in Khancoban, with views out over the valley, provides the perfect start to your Murray River Air Cruise.

Overnight: Corryong Country Inn

Day 2: Corryong to Corowa (B,L,D)

A short flight this morning will take you to Corowa in NSW, on the fertile banks of the Murray. Spend the day exploring with a progressive lunch and winery tour around Corowa and Rutherglen.

Overnight: Federation Motor Inn

Day 3: Corowa to Echuca (B,L,D)

Fly on to Echuca, across the river/border in Victoria. First stop is the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre, with steam-powered exhibits and audiovisual displays. Enjoy a cruise with lunch past banks filled with swaying red gums on the newly renovated MV Mary Ann.

Stroll through the historic Port of Echuca, a living tribute to the 1870s when it was the third largest port in Australia, outside Sydney and Melbourne. Tour the Echuca Historical Society Museum then take some time to explore, or just relax, before dinner.

Day 4: Echuca to Wentworth to Mildura (B,L,D)

Fly along the Murray River to Wentworth in NSW, the old river port town where the Murray and Darling Rivers meet. Learn about the history of this influential town, the region’s oldest settlement. Drive into Mildura, back in Victoria for a short tour.

Day 5: Mildura to Goolwa (B,L,D)

Begin the day with exclusive access to the famous Murray River Salt. At Trentham Estate Winery, tour behind the scenes and partake in a delicious lunch. Then glide along the river on the Paddle Vessel Rothbury, launched in 1881.

Mid-afternoon, fly to Goolwa in South Australia on Lake Alexandrina, the end of the line for the Murray River, where the river meets the sea. Head to a secluded spot on Goolwa beach to toast the sunset, then settle in around the group table and indulge in a delicious dinner at your exclusive retreat.

2 nights: River’s End Retreat

Day 6: Goolwa and The Coorong (B,L,D)

Enjoy the morning at your own pace. In the afternoon, cruise out onto the Coorong, where the Murray River ends its epic journey from the mountains to the sea. Visit the Goolwa Barrages and cross the Murray Mouth into the Coorong National Park. Take a guided walk through dune vegetation to a Southern Ocean beach. Returning to your retreat, raise a glass to salute the sunset for your final night on this multi-faceted river before another feast.

Day 7: Goolwa to home city (B,L)

Say goodbye to your River’s End hosts this morning, then embark on a 4WD adventure with exclusive access in the Second Valley state forest. Stop for morning refreshments of wine, cheese and fruit overlooking stunning Gulf St Vincent. Continue into the backcountry in Deep Creek Conservation Park, where you may meet some of the local wildlife including kangaroos, koalas, echidnas.
