Arkaba Homestead, built in 1851, is set on 60,000 acres, a one-time sheep farming station and features pressed metal ceilings and flagstone floors beneath shady verandahs. The homestead pays homage to its rich pastoral past and exploration heritage in a manner that is both rustic chic and exclusive, catering for just 10 guests. Your stay includes all meals, bottomless beverages, and a twice-daily safari program operated by a team of expert field guides.

Tour Itinerary: Arkaba Luxury Lodge

B,L,D: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 1: From Melbourne to Wentworth to Hawker (L,D)

Depart Moorabbin Airport at 9.30am. Fly to Wentworth in NSW for a short gourmet picnic lunch and refuel. Reboard your aircraft and head northwest into South Australia and the southern Flinders Ranges. A scenic flight over the spectacular Wilpena Pound before landing at Hawker. Then it’s only a 15-minute road transfer to Arkaba Homestead.

Time to leave the world behind, Arkaba is proudly without wifi, and television. Settle in and relax into one of the most beautiful properties in Australia. Later in the afternoon enjoy a ridgetop safari with sundowners (sunset drinks).

Back at the homestead enjoy exceptional local food and wine. The head chef will prepare a mouthwatering menu with the open bar featuring delicious wines from Barossa and Clare Valley. A hosted dinner will be served on the outdoor terrace with the ever-changing light and sounds of the bush all around.

Overnight: Arkaba Homestead

Day 2: Arkaba Homestead (B,L,D)

Wake to the sounds of the outback and partake in 2 excursions with a field guide during the day. Explore the vastness of Arkaba’s 60,000 acres in an open-top 4WD, African Safari style. Arkaba’s picturesque high ranges, plateaus, valleys, and creek lines provide a huge variety of habitat for wildlife and incredible scenery.

Arkaba is a private conservancy, changing the lives of more than 5 million counted native animals. At least 2% of your paid experience goes back into conservation projects to help restore and protect the biodiversity of the Flinders Ranges.

Day 3: From Hawker to Naracoorte to Melbourne (B,L)

This morning a final safari experience opportunity before its time to depart and fly to Naracoorte in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia.

A special treat has been arranged at ‘Land of Tomorrow’ winery on a property at Wrattonbully which has been in the same family for more than 100 years. Learn about the history of the region while enjoying a 3-course luncheon prepared over an open fire with delicious local wines. The idyllic setting is a rustic hut nestled beside a natural waterhole surrounded by towering gum trees.

Finally, it is time to return to Melbourne with the memories of an exquisite, relaxed weekend, celebrating the best of what outback Australia has on offer, done in style.
