Latest News | New Years Eve Fireworks Flights | Summer Air Tours

See the city fireworks from 2,500ft above the Melbourne CBD!

Kirkhope Aviation is again offering flights over the New Years Eve fireworks in 2016! Perched in orbit around the Melbourne CBD, count down to 2017 with a group of friends and the best vantage point available. Be treated to drinks and nibbles on your arrival at our lounge prior to the flight, before taking to the air for an approximately 40 minute journey.

Pilot Nick told us about his experience from 2015,”We got up into orbit ten minutes before the main event, and, before midnight, we could see the skyline in every direction lit up with people letting their own fireworks off! The main display was simply magical – I wish I could have been a passenger so I could have used my camera!”

Tickets are available for both the 9:30pm and midnight displays, and they’re priced at $245 and $295 respectively. Flights are conducted in our Piper Chieftain aircraft. Group bookings are most welcome, after all, NYE is a time best spent with friends.

Already got plans for NYE? We also offer night-time joy flights on the first Thursday of most months! Priced at $99/head, it’s a fun way to meet some of our pilots and see the Melbourne city skyline! As with NYE, it’s best experienced as a group!

Summer tours coming up!

King Island Day Tour December 30th is our next one!

Whilst winter is traditionally our busy period, we do have plenty of tours running over summer, featuring Tasmania and Bass Strait as well as South Australia. We’re also offering a day tour to King Island on December 30th – a perfect Christmas present for that special someone.

The tour includes a lunch featuring local produce and beef, a visit to King Island Dairy and a 4WD tour of the island.

Places are filling fast though, so give us a call in the office on 1300 206 130 to see what’s on offer!

Barnbougle and Cape Wickham

We continue to have strong demand for flights to Barnbougle and particularly Cape Wickham on King Island. Groups of eight can carry full golf bags whilst travelling in comfort and style in the King Air. We’re also offering great Christmas specials on charters in our Piper Chieftains, great for day trips!

Recent Charters

Helping do regional business

November has seen charters to Mildura (with Government staff after the wild weather), Warrnambool, Swan Hill, Bendigo, King Island and Balranald. Summer is traditionally our busy period for charter, but it also means kittens as pilot Nick found out while in NSW! They just appeared at his feet! Return of the KA Landcrusier

Back from Lake Eyre for service

With our season finished at Lake Eyre, it was time for our Toyota Landcruiser to come home! Each year Tony uses this opportunity to visit some of the locations we frequent, and word from all the locals is still about how Lake Eyre is going to flood in 2017.

He also had a chance to visit Talc Alf, a great character of South Australia. Check out some of the photos on our Facebook page!

Jessica Loughlin Exhibition

Art inspired by the landscape

This year we had the pleasure of hosting Sandy Benjamin on one of our Taste of the Outback tours. Sandy is soon to be hosting Jessica Loughlin, a leading Australian contemporary artist who sculpts light from the Australian landscape through glass. We’d welcome our previous guests to join us at the opening of her latest exhibition “afar” on December 10th. Keith takes leave to participate in the Great Victorian Bike Race

Next week pilot Keith will be getting out of the office and participating in the Great Victorian Bike Ride with his daughter, Bec. They’ll cover 527km over 7 days, which is the same distance our King Air covers in an hour. He even managed to land a spot in the local newspaper!

We wish him all the best for his well earned leave.
