Fly, Wine & Revive

Depart Moorabbin Airport in Melbourne at 10.00am and fly to Corowa. Corowa played a crucial role in shaping Australian democracy when in 1893, the People’s Convention was held, providing the catalyst for the first fledgling steps towards nationhood and Federation. It is now known more for its wineries on the fertile banks of the Murray River, along with a wide range of fresh produce including olives and olive oil, honey and chocolate. See the region with a delicious lunch and wine tastings, along with opportunities to purchase the wares of course!

First is a private tasting at Campbells wines. Next head to the Corowa Distilling Co for lunch at the Chocolate & Whisky Factory. (Whisky tasting and behind the scenes tour is available as an extra). Finally visit Cofields Wines for a tasting before returning to your waiting aircraft.

Fly the short distance from Corowa to Milawa before a grand entrance, landing at the Brown Brothers airstrip.

Walk the short distance to the newly renovated and reopened Lancemore Milawa. Tucked between the twisting grapevines of Brown Brothers winery, the 40-room hotel emanates the elegance and style of a sophisticated country residence. Balancing Moorish influences with local artisanship, the hotel’s interiors encourage guests to slow down, soak up the quietness and surrender to the surrounds.

With a couple of hours to fill before dinner, explore the magnificent grounds, dive into the pool, or take a nap in your gorgeous room overlooking the vines. Head into the bar for a welcome cocktail, before a delicious three course meal in the highly rated Merlot Restaurant Bar (drinks with dinner not included).

After a peaceful, country sleep, breakfast at your leisure, then spend the morning relaxing some more.

At midday, walk across to Brown Brothers Winery (about 5 minutes’ walk). The Brown family has been making wine in Milawa since 1889, offering award-winning wines and delicious food in a gorgeous setting. First a tasting, then settle in to savour a magnificent five-course Slow Lunch with matching wines at Patricia’s Table Restaurant. Named in honour of the family matriarch, Patricia Brown, the relaxed and inviting atmosphere of Patricia’s Table complements the fresh, local, seasonal produce.

Soak up the ambience and greenery and purchase your favourite wine to enjoy at home, before flying back to Moorabbin, arriving by 4.30pm.
