Tasmania
Tasmania - a curious island at the edge of the world.
Tasmania hosts a diversity of unspoiled habitats and ecosystems, with plants and animals found nowhere else of earth. It's also stunning beautiful.
From Cape Grim, the most northerly point on the Tasmanian mainland, to the Franklin-Gordon River Wild Rivers National Park, birthplace of the Australian Greens, to the milky blue waters of Wineglass bay in Freycinet National Park, let us take you to these little patches of paradise, way off the beaten track.
Strahan
On the wild west coast of Tasmania, Strahan offers some of Tasmania's most beautiful scenery. A harbour-side village with a dark and fascinating convict past, set on the edge of the World Heritage wilderness area, Strahan is not serviced by commercial airlines.
Nestled on the shores of massive Macquarie Harbour, the gateway to the World Heritage listed Franklin-Gordon Wild River National Park, it's the starting point for an unforgettable experience. Journey through World Heritage Wilderness into the pristine temperate rainforests of the Gordon River and to the penal colony Sarah Island with Gordon River Cruises.
West Coast Wilderness Railways offers a vintage steam locomotive journey deep into temperate rainforests, crossing history bridges, following the course of the King River.
Head to Peoples Park and stroll through cool-temperate rainforest to reach Hogarth Falls – the experience is one of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks (you might even spot a platypus).
