Tour Itinerary: Fantastic Flinders Island

B,L,D: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 1: Melbourne to Flinders Island (D)

Depart Moorabbin Airport at 9.00 am for Flinders Island, with fabulous views of Wilsons Promontory as you head south across Bass Strait.

On arrival, be met by your expert local guide and begin your exploration. Today will focus on the eastern side of the Island around Lady Barron. Take a trip to Vinegar Hill, where you'll see a shipwreck near Cape Barren Island, depending on the tide. Lunch at the local Tavern. Late afternoon transfer to the boutique Mountain Seas Lodge, located in one of the most idyllic spots on the Island.

2 nights: Mountain Seas Lodge

Day 2: Flinders Island (B,L,D)

The day starts with a short beach walk at Trousers Point, at the base of Mt Strzelecki. Get your camera out for the striking Fotheringate Bay, with granite caves formed by emerging groundwater and marine erosion.

Head north to Killiecrankie, famous for its white topaz known as Killiecrankie Diamonds.

Reach Palana on the Island's northern tip, where evidence of WWII surveillance is still visible, then across to North East River, where the Tasman Sea and Bass Strait meet.

Day 3: Flinders Island to Melbourne (B,L)

Start the day with a visit to the Patriarch Wildlife Sanctuary to meet wombats, wallabies and Cape Barren geese.

Stretch your legs in the capital Whitemark. Reflect at Wybalenna, the site of the Tasmanian Aboriginal settlement between 1833 and 1847, when all indigenous Tasmanians were moved to this location.

Visit scenic Port Davies, Lillies Beach and Allports, then the Furneaux Museum, which offers a fascinating insight into the history of the Furneaux Group of Islands, of which Flinders Island is just one of 52.

And then it's time to fly back to Moorabbin, touching down at around 5.45 pm.
